Bored at work…but a week of excitement…

October 19, 2006
Fall is definitely in the air, the humidity is much lower and its been comparatively cool at night dipping down to the mid 70s at night.  Its like June back home, really nice weather.  The ocean is still 78, so still pretty good swimming weather although I think many of the Bermudians are done for the year.

This week has been pretty exciting.  Tuesday was week 3 of our international food cooking class (Italian), where both dishes turned out well, although overall we are batting about 50% success rate with our dishes.  Wednesday we went and saw the Beauty and Beast production at the National Arts Center, which was really well done and thoroughly entertaining.

Tomorrow of course we are off to Atlanta!  Pretty exciting stuff and a long weekend to boot.  So we won’t be online through the weekend, in case anyone is looking for us.

Later.

5 Things We Think We Think

1.  We think the new Yahoo mail is the neatest thing to come from the internet in a long time. Its web-based email that acts like its not, its fabulous.

2.  We think that Rascall’s Flatts cover version of Tom Cochrane’s "Life Is A Highway" is terrible and should be punishable by law.  What if Tom Cochrane were alive and working to hear this travesty………..what………….. he’s not…………he is…………really?………..oh.  Looking for something new (that doesn’t suck) for MP3 player, try these dynamite downloads: "Bed of Lies" by Matchbox 20 (great percussion, great vocals), "Superstition" by Stevie Wonder (love the rift, love the levis commercial, love the song) and NonPoint cover of "In the Air Tonight" (possibly the best thing about the Miami Vice movie remake).

3.  We think the Bermuda Postal Service might be some of the nicest, most competent people on the island.  No really.  They are always friendly and usually quick at delivering the mail.  Why? Well story goes something like this: when we booked our tickets to Atlanta the price had increased $70 a ticket from the morning til the night.  Crappy bad luck we thought (knew I should have bought that charm!), next day price is back down.  Come to find out that they were charging more per ticket for two people than if you bought 1 ticket twice.  So I called and complained that I should at least get 1 ticket at the discounted rate, giving them the benefit of the doubt that there was only 1 seat left for sale at the cheaper rate.  After 35 mintues on the phone I got vouchers sent to us.  Unfortunately the people I spoke too had not yet completely finished their E.S.L. course and even though I spelled the address for them, the address is nothing close to where we actually live, yet we received it.  Props to the Bermy Posties.  Canada Post on the other hand not so much, at least as it comes to international deliveries.

4.  Sue’s rant:  The following commercials writers need to be punched in the nose.  Dove IS a soap, so you can’t just say its better than soap.  Commericals pushing weight loss (YOU NEED RELACORE!) talk about losing body fat weight – of course that is the weight people are trying to lose.

5.  We love Heroes on NBC (Mondays).  Great new show, very interesting.  Its like X-Men for the small screen but without the suckiness (for the record, Shawn wrote this and Sue in no way agrees that there is anything "sucky" about X-Men. She really liked it and doubts if Shawn has even seen it). Although we would like to see the invincible cheerleader, wear something other than a cheerleader outfit.  Its ok NBC, we will still recognize her.  (nbc.com/heroes)
