This is new

Yesterday, Sue and Keaton left for Canada as Sue takes advantage of having a mobile employer (Keaton) and spend some extra time with her family before we regroup and take Keaton around the Moncton side of the province.  Strange fact – Shawn has never spent a night in Bermuda without Sue except for the 2 nights she was in the hospital with Keaton.

Sue managed the trip home well as Keaton was pretty well behaved after defecating through his pants and onto Dad’s lap, a farewell present if you will.  So Shawn is bacheloring it up for a couple of weeks. while he misses the crew.  Needless to say the house is pretty quiet and very different.  Shawn’s trying to take advantage of the opportunity to go hiking, golf and stuff that’s harder to do with Keaton in tow.  The goal is to finally lose the pregnancy weight and drop 5-8 lbs.

Over the last 3 plus years, we’ve done a pretty good job exploring the island.  As part of that there have been a few places we’ve always said, we should come back some time and do this again, and a lot of them we haven’t had the chance.  So today, we’re hopign to reverse that trend, and so Shawn went hiking at Spittal Pond – a nature preserve that hugs to coast and features the first known sign of settlement on the island called Spanish rock.  Spanish rock features a carving believed to be made by Portugese shipwrecked survivors done in 1543.  Pretty awe inspiring to think that I stood on the same cliff as some stranded sailors did 466 years ago.

Here’s a few of the better pictures from today’s hike.  Not sure where I’ll go tomorrow…
